“Your daughter will be crippled within 8 months…”
Polyarticular arthritis means that the chronic inflammation of the small joints will eventually affect all of the joints. This diagnosis struck my heart deep. “Ma’am if you choose not to use the medication, your daughter will be crippled in 8 months.” I could tell the Doctor from Rheumatology sensed my hesitation to inject my daughter once a week and wanted to explore alternative options. My once vibrant tree climbing 11 year old little girl was now frail and lethargic. Her left hand was already morphing into a promise of being crippled forever. Her right knee was twice the size of her left. She would lay in bed for hours if not days after playing. Prior to this, she had lived to be outdoors riding her pony on our 12 acre farm. She was scared and so was I. Chronic inflammation left unchecked can lead to devastating autoimmune diseases, and that was what we were up against.
What about food?
“Can I change her diet to eliminate inflammation of the joints?” I asked. “There are no medical studies to prove that diet has any connection to inflammation in the joints. Don’t even worry about going gluten free” Honestly at this point I was in shock. I felt trapped and burdened. The only options on the table were to inject my daughter once a week for the rest of her life with medication that closely resembled chemotherapy and to give her pain medication daily whether she “needed it or not” or… to go against the advice of the Doctor and follow my gut. As a parent I am sure you can imagine the amount of anxiety this caused. Everything in me was telling me not to schedule the first dose. “One last thing, be sure to get her eyes checked immediately before we begin the medication” the Rheumatologist advised me. I had no idea that arthritis affected the eyes. So I did. Listen sweet parents, I want you to hear me, question everything. I don’t care how many letters are after their name. It’s YOUR child!
Question Everything
Two days after her diagnosis we were sitting in the office of our favorite Optometrist. “I was instructed to tell you that she has been diagnosed with Polyarticular Arthritis, the Doctor said that it can affect her eyesight, is this true?” The doctor turned to me and said “No, arthritis doesn’t affect the eyesight. The medication they are putting her on can cause bleeding behind the eye so they want to establish a baseline before the injections start.” That was the nail in the coffin for me. My trust had been broken and my motherly intuition was now screaming. I cried for days watching her lay in bed while contemplating my options. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time I had been up against the medical field.
Facing Medical Giants
Previously, my father been diagnosed with a blood clot that started in his pulmonary artery extending down to his ankles. My knowledge of healing foods at that time could hardly fill a sticky note. But I had a hunch. And that hunch led to him reversing his diabetes, avoiding amputation and getting him out of the nursing home 100 lbs lighter. But that’s a blog post for another day. Needless to say I was already on the path of using foods to heal. I don’t know why it was harder with my daughter to make that call. Fortunately, I knew too much about how our bodies are created to heal themselves and that food is medicine to just sign her up for a lifetime of injections. Here is the real kicker, she still would have been crippled even on the injections. The medication was not aimed to cure or reverse but to simply slow down the process! Despite going into remission, she would still need to continue treatment for at least 5 years!
Here is what I did
I am going to walk you through her treatment plan that worked for her. First let me just say that she is a vibrant, energetic, beautiful teen today and has been in remission for 4 years now. She volunteers at a local horse ranch teaching youth life lessons through horsemanship. No signs of crippling are visible on her, and she is pain-free. We monitored her progress with her PCP and brought her into recovery within 6 months of her diagnosis. Food and supplements people. No medication, no injections. She is living free.
Before we begin
Before I go into detail on how I put her PA in remission without conventional medicine of any kind, let me state my disclaimer: I am not a medical physician and I don’t claim to give advice on how to diagnose, treat or cure any medical conditions. Please consult with your medical professionals before changing any medical treatment plans. There, I said it. Now, here is what I did.
- I prayed. I prayed for direction, wisdom and more wisdom. I believe that when we put our energy towards the answer, the answer will come.
- I researched inflammation in the body until I was completely aware of what was happening, what foods are known to cause inflammation. I had thought we ate a fairly clean diet. I was wrong.
- I found a natural doctor in Alabama that did a Bio-Feedback reading on her. This was key. For those of you unaware of what a Bio-Feedback reading consists of, do some research. Here is a link to help you understand.
Frequencies
I am going to expound on this point a little more before I go any further. The body is composed of frequencies. Diseases have a frequency. Our thoughts can create frequencies in our bodies. Food will either have a positive frequency or a negative. The biofeedback report came back with more information than I was expecting. The Doctor diagnosed her with Lymes disease which was triggering the auto-immune disease. Talk about mind-blown! We were finally getting some answers. Putting the lymes disease in remission causes the auto-immune disorder to go into remission as well. With a clear understanding of what was at stake, fear diminished and a strategy was formulated that was ready to be executed. Target the Lymes disease with detoxing, supplements and nutrition. We also used grapefruit seed extract as a natural anti-viral medication. This has become a household staple. If anyone gets the slightest sniffle, they are getting grapefruit seed extract.
Where to begin
- Cultured lemons. Cultured lemons have been used for centuries and are filled with beneficial microbes that are beneficial to your gut health. Add these lemons once they are cultured to drinking water (because water is not digestible- we’ve stripped it from its microbes that help us digest it) and add it to smoothies, foods and everything in between. Here’s the recipe.
- Biofeedback confirmed she’s deficient in Vitamin B-12. She had a small round patch on her tongue that confirmed this. Now we watch her B-12 by checking her tongue on occasion. Here is a link to the B-12 we used.
- It is really imperative that you have your vitamins and minerals checked. Even if you eat a clean diet. The foods we grow today are not as micronutrient dense as they once were. I would love to give you a list of exactly what she was taking but honestly the list was specific to her deficiencies.
- I fed her this protocol, which is why I published it on Amazon. So that you too can take your health into your own hands. Here is a link to purchase my 30 day Regeneration Protocol.
Find your autoimmune support team
When taking on the care of a child with an illness or disease, please find a doctor that can support you and your beliefs. There are many wonderful doctors out there that value parents and will support you. At the time of starting this journey I interviewed a couple doctors and landed on one that did house calls. He was very supportive and monitored her health as I nourished her back to life. We agreed that we didn’t want her crippled from my stubbornness against conventional medicine. I trusted him to be the whistleblower on the natural path. I trusted him to be the whistle blower however I took charge and became informed on how to nourish my child back to health. Together we made a great team. If you are going through something similar or have a similar experience, drop me a line. I would love to hear your story or answer your questions.
